Getting Ready for Great Things, Part 3: Judges 6:11-25

The Lord turned to Gideon and said, “Go in the strength that you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14)

3 things we can do in our strength:

Serve - “Putting the meat in a basket and its broth in a pot, he brought them out and served Him.” (Judges 6:19)

Sanctify - “Tear down your father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. Then build a proper altar to the Lord.” (Judges 6:25) Gideon = a hewer Cut down secular mindsets Cut up unclean objects Cut off destructive associations

Sacrifice - “Build a proper kind of altar to the Lord.” (Judges 6:26)

3 truths about sacrifice:

  • God is pleased when I make offerings with a free will
  • A key is turned when I sacrifice out of my need
  • Breakthrough happens when I stop withholding the specific thing God has asked me to sacrifice
