Lessons from the House of Saul: Maybe God Will Help Us

Come, let us go over to the garrison of those uncircumcised fellows, it may be that the Lord will work for us.  For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few. (1 Samuel 14:6)

At the bottom of the barrel

  • Their leader was “out to lunch”
  • The enemy was terrorizing them
  • Their army had dwindled to 600 men
  • They only had 2 weapons left!

A few things God can use

1.  A heart that has to find out

Come, let us go over to the garrison of those uncircumcised fellows, it may be that the Lord will work for us.  For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few. (1 Samuel 14:6)

A heart that has to find out:

  • If the God of the Bible is alive and well
  • How big He really is
  • If He can do what He says He can do
  • If I can do what He says I can do!

2.  Two who agree

Do all that is in your heart. [For my heart is as your heart. 1 Samuel 14:7

Two who agree:

  • That our cause is the greatest cause in the history
  • That it is better to die for Him than to live without Him

3.  Whatever is in your hand

And Jonathan climbed up on his hands and knees with his armorbearer after him; and they fell before Jonathan.  And as he came after him, his armorbearer killed them. (1 Samuel 14:13)
