Lay It Down Night: Hebs 12:1-2

What to lay down:

1. Excesses

“Let us lay aside every weight”

Weight = egkos = “whatever is prominent”

Lay aside whatever has become so prominent in your life that it’s bigger than Him!

Excesses:

  • An Idol—anything we have cherished in our heart more than Him
  • An Indulgence
  • An Incident that you cannot get over

2. Shortcomings

Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily entangles us.

Sin = hamartia = falling short

  • Falling short of His holiness
  • Falling short of His love
  • Falling short of His faithfulness

How to lay it down:

Repent

Renounce

Receive Breaking Prayer & His Gifts of Grace

Redirect

“Don’t go there” anymore!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your [footpaths] acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your [highways]. Prov 3:5-6

  • Physical footpaths
  • Mental footpaths (neural pathways)
  • Hold onto something else

Rebound Quickly!

In your struggle against sin, you have not resisted to the point of shedding your blood! (Heb. 12:4)
